MIRA Residency April 2011

Just found out that I was accepted to MIRA art Residency in Southern Italy-- in the heel of the boot of the Apulia region. I proposed to work on a series of paintings inspired by the unique architecture and landscape in that area known for its striking color contrasts and intricately carved design motifs called leccese. Also, the dome cone shaped architecture that is unique to that area known as "trulli" which are whitewashed cones made of brick without mortar-- only place to find these extraordinary structures.

I will be spending an entire month all of May 2011. More to come.....

TRANSMISSION and RE:MIX print exchange (Lyon Student Work)

Melissa Gill Printmaking Professor at Hendrix college and myself Dustyn Bork Art Professor at Lyon College created a printmaking collaborative exchange between our current printmaking students. The goal of the project is to generate work on both ends and then send the work off (transmission)and have the artists respond to and work/print on top of the prints (re:MIX).

Images are from my Printmaking 1 class. All are monotypes.
